We use the DRIVE RIGHT textbook 10th edition as well as other text by prominent authors including Mottola. In addition to printed material, guest speakers and video presentations enhance the lessonplan experience. Each classroom session is accompanied by a drive in the fabulous Zebracar that reinforces the points that are covered in that module. There is homework assigned and tests are given at regular intervals to evaluate the progress of each student,and target remedies for deficient practices. Parent involvement is necessary and will be expected and documented.
We use an ongoing enrollment program to minimize downtime for students. A student may start anywhere in the 7 week course, but must take all classes, drives, and final.The skill of correct driving is the most important acquired behavior that we possess in my opinion. It can save lives on a daily basis, both ours and the lives of other HTS users. To that end I am presenting coursework that I hope will become the industry standard in the future.
There is NO substitute for experience. A monotonous classroom lesson is just as dangerous as an ineffective drive lesson. We will keep our students attention at all times. As a FULL TIME instructor, Mr.Phelps logs thousands of miles every year. He drove 1700 miles in the first 16 days of July 2010.. Most driving instructors have a fraction of this experience.
